Proven onsite telecoms experience essential

  • Completion of site surveys to include completion & submission of documentation
  • Pre-staging works within the Indigo Telecom Labs (South Wales & Birmingham)
  • Site installation works to include:
  • Installation of rack & stack
  • Card infill & replacement activities
  • DC power cabling, termination & test
  • AC power cabling
  • Coax / Cat5 cable (installation, termination, labelling and testing)
  • Fibre installation, scope, test, label
  • HSE competent
  • Completion of all H&S and Site Completion documentation
  • Available to work to an on-call (shift) on 24×7 basis as part of an on-call maintenance rota

Based at our Caldicot office this candidate will support the company at 2LS level in the jobholder’s specialist technologies.

Principal Accountabilities / Objectives:

  • To act as a point of technical escalation to the field engineers
  • Provide technical support to Indigo’s customers, NOC and regional Engineers when required in all aspects of specialist technologies
  • Implementation and maintenance services on specialist technologies
  • Technically manage and support Customer implementations and projects in specialist technologies
  • Manage Technical Projects as required
  • Maintain support laboratory equipment as far as practicable to ensure that sufficient lab equipment exists
  • Set up customer demonstrations both on customer site and in Caldicot labs
  • Provide technical support to Sales/Pre-Sales. Assisting with technical responsibilities/bids and replying to technical requests. Assist with network design as necessary
  • Constantly & proactively improve company documentation and procedures
  • Provide training via Internal and External workshops on specialist technologies as required
  • Advise the company on new technologies and products as required

Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:

  • An extensive telecoms background in the jobholder’s specialist technology(ies) is essential. Educational qualifications should be to HNC/degree level in Telecommunications or related discipline although formal qualifications are not essential if the job holder has extensive ‘on the job’ experience
  • Should possess knowledge and understanding on all Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and Office product suites and applications preferably at ACSE level
  • Must be able to provide managerial support to the engineering team. Must possess effective management and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
